Ascent or mountain pass at the south of the Dead Sea, which formed the border of Palestine, and was also the “coast” of the Amorites (Num. 34:4⁴And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadesh-barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass on to Azmon: (Numbers 34:4); Judg. 1:36³⁶And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward. (Judges 1:36)). Also called MAALEH-ACRABBIM in Joshua 15:3³And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa: (Joshua 15:3). Supposed to be some miles south of the Dead Sea, but the spot has not been identified.
