A term in scripture signifying any “border,” inland as well as near the sea, it also may imply large districts (Ex. 10:4⁴Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast: (Exodus 10:4); Josh. 1:4⁴From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. (Joshua 1:4); 1 Kings 1:3³So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king. (1 Kings 1:3)).
