JEAN was born in London. She had two brothers and two sisters. Although no one in their home loved the Lord Jesus, their mother decided to send the children to Sunday school as she did not want them in her way. She didn't mind what Sunday school they went to, as long as they went somewhere. Jean and her brothers tried more than one, but soon found a place where the teachers made them very welcome and seemed to love their pupils. And jean soon found too that her teacher loved the Lord. Jesus ever so much. She could tell that by the way she spoke about Him.
One day a gentleman came to the Sunday school and gave them an address on "Prayer." He told the children how they could. come to the Lord Jesus and talk to Him, and how He loved them and died for them. Then he asked them if they always prayed before they went to bed and thanked God for sending the Lord Jesus to die for them.
Jean listened. She had never thought about praying herself. When she was going to bed that night she called her brother and said, "Don't you think we ought to start to pray?" Her brother agreed, and that night for the first time they knelt by their beds and prayed to the Lord Jesus, and asked Him to save them, and to care for them.
They taught their little brother to pray too, and many a night their mother came into the room, and when she saw her children on their knees she walked out without saying a word.
Jean accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour, and so from then on, instead of asking Him to save her, she thanked Him each night for saving her.
As she grew older she loved Him more than anyone else and tried to please Him. She longed for her family to know the Lord Jesus as she did, and for this she prayed every day.
After some time, both of her brothers, one of her sisters, and her mother were brought to accept the Lord Jesus too, and she is still praying for her father and her other sister.
Do you pray? Have you ever knelt down and asked the Lord Jesus to save you? I hope you will do it right now. Or if you have done so, then kneel each day as Jean did, and thank Him for what He has done for you.
