And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. (Genesis 2:13)

). Some locate Gihon at the Pool of Siloam, others at the Fountain of the Virgin; and some associate the “lower pool of Gihon” with the
Birket es Sultan
at the S.W. of the city.
