1. θεοσέβεια, “worship or reverence of God,” “reverential fear of God” (1 Tim. 2:10). The same word is used in the LXX for “the fear of God” in Genesis 20:11, and for “the fear of the Lord” in Job 28:28.

2. εὐσέβεια, from “to worship well,” hence piety towards God. The word “piety” seems to suit all the passages where the Greek word occurs (Acts 3:12; 1 Tim. 2:2; 1 Tim. 3:16; {vi 29755-29756}1 Tim. 4:7-8; {vi 29792;29794-29795;29800}1 Tim. 6:3,5-6,11; 2 Tim. 3:5; Titus 1:1; {vi 30483;30486-30487}2 Pet. 1:3,6-7; 2 Pet. 3:11).
