1. City in the south of Judah (Josh. 15:25²⁵And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor, (Joshua 15:25)). This passage is better read “Kerioth-hezron, which is Hazor.” Identified with el Kureitein, 31° 21' N, 35° 7' E.

2. City of Moab denounced for judgment (Jer. 48:24,41²⁴And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near. (Jeremiah 48:24)
⁴¹Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. (Jeremiah 48:41)). Probably the same as KIRIOTH in Amos 2:2²But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet: (Amos 2:2).
