And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house.
For Potiphar, Joseph was a blessing. He had purchased a slave at the market but soon found out that he was no ordinary slave. Here was the son of a rich landowner. He was also a child of God, and so his master gave Joseph more responsibility. And all the time Joseph served him. In other words, he still respected Potiphar, did what he asked, and didn’t take advantage of his position.
