He has apparently lost his world-power…He is the false prophet simply. (article #56779)
It will be observed that there is no conflict with almighty power. Christ “takes” these two impious instruments of Satan, and at once executes judgment, casting them alive into hell. (See Psa. 55:15.) Two men in the Old Testament, as frequently noticed, pass alive into heaven, and these two arch-enemies of God and His Christ are cast alive into the lake of fire. (Notes on Revelation 19:11-21 by J.N. Darby)
If God had interposed to show signal mercy in bringing alive to heaven [Enoch and Elijah], so now God interposes to send alive down to hell. (Lectures on Revelation 19 by W. Kelly)
The false prophet (v. 20) is the second beast of chapter 13: 12. He has the form of the power of Christ, and the voice of Satan. He performs prodigies. (Compare chap. 19: 20 with chap. 13: 12-14.) These passages show the identity of the second beast with the false prophet. (Lectures on Revelation 19 by W. Kelly)

a
I do not say "had received" here, because then the deceiving would come after the receiving, which is not the sense.
b
Or "do homage to." As ch. 3.9.

W. Kelly Translation

+
20
And the beast was taken, and with him thea false prophet that wrought the signsb before him, with which he deceived those that hadc received the mark of the beast and those that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstoned.

WK Translation Notes

+
a
The reading of Erasmus and so of the T. R. is meta toutou (with him) which is not so good Greek as met autou, but makes no sensible difference in English.
b
The article should be expressed before "miracles" or rather "signs."
c
It does not seem correct to say, "that had received" etc. as with the Revisers as well as the KJV. The deceiving was not after, but before, they received the mark of the beast.
d
The Greek article before "brimstone" as in the T. R. should disappear.
