J. N. Darby Translation

+
1
And I saw an angel descending from the heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand.

W. Kelly Translation

+
1
And I saw an angel cominga down from the heaven having the key of the abyssb, and a great chain uponc his hand.

WK Translation Notes

+
a
The Revisers have rightly "coming," not "come," as in the KJV.
b
The Revisers have rightly "abyss" as before, for "bottomless pit," here and in verse 3.
c
English idiom perhaps requires "in" his hand, rather than "upon" literally. The angel was seen in vision with the chain hanging on his hand.
