This probably signifies “rock of escapes,” or “rock of divisions,” as in the margin. It is a rock in the wilderness of Maori, where David escaped from Saul (1 Sam. 23:2828Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth. (1 Samuel 23:28)). Identified with Wady Malaki, 31° 27' N, 35° 14' E.
