(odor). A town east of Jordan, given to Reuben and Gad (Num. 32:3³Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon, (Numbers 32:3)). [SIBMAH].

City of Reuben on the east of the Jordan, famous for its vines (Josh. 13:19¹⁹And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley, (Joshua 13:19); Isa. 16:8-9⁸For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea. ⁹Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
