Syene

Listen from:
Town in the south of Egypt, bordering on Ethiopia (Ezek. 29:1010Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia. (Ezekiel 29:10); Ezek. 30:66Thus saith the Lord; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord God. (Ezekiel 30:6)). The expression, “from the tower of Syene,” is better translated “from Migdol to Syene,” even unto the border of Ethiopia, as it is in the margin. The word is really SEVENEH, as in the RV. It is now called Assuan, about 24° N, 33° E.
