263. The Night Is Now Far Spent
6,6,6,6,8,8.
by T. Kelly
The night is now far spent,
Soon will the morning break
In radiance through the sky:
Oh let the thought our spirits cheer,
The Lord Himself will soon appear!
Though men our hope deride,
Nor will the truth believe,
And it will ne’er deceive:
Soon all that grieves shall pass away,
And saints shall see a glorious day.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:3-4)
The place where sorrow ends,
And naught is known but joy:
With such a hope let us rejoice,
We soon shall hear the Savior’s voice.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
“Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:2)
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” (John 5:25)
