(portion). (1) Mother of Amalek (Gen. 36:12¹²And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife. (Genesis 36:12)). (2) A duke of Edom (Gen. 36:40⁴⁰And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth, (Genesis 36:40)), who gave his name to a boundary of Judah (Josh. 15:10¹⁰And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah: (Joshua 15:10)). (3) A mountain town of Judah (Josh. 15:57⁵⁷Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages: (Joshua 15:57)).

“Timna” From Concise Bible Dictionary:

1. Concubine of Eliphaz, son of Esau, and mother of Amalek (Gen. 36:12¹²And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife. (Genesis 36:12)).

2. Daughter of Seir the Horite (Gen. 36:22²²And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna. (Genesis 36:22); 1 Chron. 1:39³⁹And the sons of Lotan; Hori, and Homam: and Timna was Lotan's sister. (1 Chronicles 1:39)).

3. Son of Eliphaz, a son of Esau (1 Chron. 1:36³⁶The sons of Eliphaz; Teman, and Omar, Zephi, and Gatam, Kenaz, and Timna, and Amalek. (1 Chronicles 1:36)).

“Timnah” From Concise Bible Dictionary:

1. Duke descended from Esau (Gen. 36:40⁴⁰And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth, (Genesis 36:40); 1 Chron. 1:51⁵¹Hadad died also. And the dukes of Edom were; duke Timnah, duke Aliah, duke Jetheth, (1 Chronicles 1:51)). Perhaps the same as TIMNA No. 3.

2. City on the north border of Judah (Josh. 15:10¹⁰And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah: (Joshua 15:10)). Identified with ruins at Tibnah, 31° 45' N, 34° 56' E.

3. City in the south of Judah (Josh. 15:57⁵⁷Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages: (Joshua 15:57); 2 Chron. 28:18¹⁸The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.
