Seaport town and district in Mysia, in the north-west of Asia Minor: it was visited by Paul on his journeys to and from Macedonia. On one occasion he abode there seven days, and raised Eutychus to life when, the disciples having come together “to break bread,” Paul preached till midnight (Acts 16:8, 11⁸And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. (Acts 16:8)
¹¹Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; (Acts 16:11); Acts 20:5-6⁵These going before tarried for us at Troas. ⁶And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days. (Acts 20:5‑6); 2 Cor. 2:12¹²Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, (2 Corinthians 2:12); 2 Tim. 4:13¹³The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments. (2 Timothy 4:13)). It is now called Eski-Stamboul; there are many ruins of the ancient city (called Alexandria Troas), which was the chief port of the traffic from Macedonia.
