101. We Bless Thee, O Thou Great Amen

8,8,6.
by R. Hawker, 1831
1
We bless Thee, O Thou great Amen!

Jehovah’s pledge to sinful men,

Confirming all His word!

Doubtful no promises remain,

For all are Yea, and all Amen,

In Thee, the faithful Lord.
“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
2
How great the grace of God to bless

By Thee, the Lord, our righteousness!

By Thee, we say again:

For to us all things thus are sure,

Through life, in death, and evermore,

By Thee, the great Amen.
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)
“Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:1)
“In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness.” (Jeremiah 33:16)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
3
O faithful Witness of our God,

Who cam’st by water and by blood!

In Thee (the holy One)

God’s record doth forever stand,

Of life eternal, from His hand,

To all in Thee the Son.
4
Gladly His promises we hear,

For God’s "Amen" dispels all fear,

His faithfulness it proves;

And while such grace from God is shown,

To His Amen we add our own,

For our Amen He loves.
