Twelve Baskets

“And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, He blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full” (Matthew 14:19-20).

Not only did the twelve baskets indicate the super-abundance of the Lord’s provision, but each disciple would have a basket for himself. Remember, the Lord is always mindful of those who serve Him, and although the rewards are not always obvious at the times of service, He will always honor those that faithfully perform any task for Him whether great or small. He has said: “Them that honour me I will honour” (1 Samuel 2:30).

The Bible also talks about a “full reward” (2 John 8).Notice that there were not only twelve baskets, but that they were “full.” The Lord is certainly no man’s debtor, and if you have done anything for Him, it will be amply and fully recompensed.
