Our Occupation

Self-occupation will only discourage and dishearten the believer. It will lead to self-pity and will cause you to become dissatisfied as well as weary and fainthearted. You will miss the path of faith and following the Lord, and you will have an empty ache in your soul.

On the other hand, occupation with Christ will satisfy your soul, refresh your spirit, and spur you on in the path of faith. The world will lose its appeal and mean nothing to you. Heaven will be your goal and Christ will be the prize. We see this exemplified in the life and experience of the Apostle Paul as we read what he wrote to the Christians at Philippi: “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win ChristBrethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:7-8, 13-14).
