Morning Prayer

The other day, we were visiting a school in the village of Toka, in the interior of southwestern Guyana. As my missionary colleague was addressing the students in a crowded classroom, I noticed the following saying on the wall:

Morning Prayer

I thank you Lord for this new day,

Take me safely on my way!

Be my guide,

Close by my side,

All along,

Safely home.

Amen.

I thought, what a good prayer for all of us at the beginning of each day. We certainly need the Lord’s protection, and the conscious sense of His company with us all through the day and in whatever activities and situations we might be facing. He has promised, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20).Don’t forget to pray and ask the Lord for His help and direction today, and every day.
