Temporary Traveling Highway 131 north out of Grand Rapids Michigan, I noticed a billboard with the caption: LIFE IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT! If we were to translate this into the language of Scripture it would read, “What is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (James 4:14). Our journey through this world is very brief in relationship to eternity. That’s why we need to make every day count for the Lord. What will really matter when we get to heaven and see the Lord? How much we made things count for our own pleasure and gain, or how much our life counted for His glory and for the blessing of others? David said of humanity, “His days are as a shadow that passeth away” (Psalm 144:4). Job observed, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not” (Job 14:1-2). Life is temporary! Let’s make it worthwhile!
