Fact or Feeling
“Why do I not feel saved?”
This question asked of me some time ago made me realize that salvation is not so much a feeling as it is a fact. If there has been “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21), then we are saved…Fact! If we have followed the instruction of Paul and Silas to the prison warden in Philippi, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31), then we are saved…Fact!
However, if we are simply going by what we feel, then that is shaky ground at best. Our feelings come and go and change with circumstances. No, what makes us secure is the work of Christ at Calvary and the blood that washes away every sin. If you are truly saved, rely on the Word of God, not your feeling,s when it comes to your eternal security.
Here is a good Scripture to remember in this regard:
“I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29).
