He Went Forth

“And He bearing His cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified Him” (John 19:17-18).

His mock trial is over, and the Lord Jesus looks out from Pilate’s judgment hall to Calvary. From there, He goes forth with no hesitation on His part. Why? It was the will of God, His Father. He had prayed earlier, “Now is My soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour” (John 12:27).

He also thought about you and me and knew that there was no other way that we could be brought into blessing and relationship with Himself and no other way that a home in heaven could be secured for us. So He “went forth” in love and obedience to His Father and love for you and me.

“Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-
smelling savor”
(Ephesians 5:2).

The realization of this will certainly draw our hearts out in worship, praise and thanksgiving.
