“Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness” (Colossians 1:11).
I am sure we all at some time have bought a “power drink” or a “power bar”—those quick snacks meant to give us that burst of energy to complete a task. Maybe you are running a race or doing a long hike and need some extra energy. For me, it’s something in my briefcase on a long plane flight where there are no meals served!
In today’s verse we are promised to be strengthened with all might and His glorious power. We have talked about this verse before, back in August, but here is a little different thought. Why are we strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power? That we may be patient and longsuffering with joyfulness. Not just a burst of energy, but a continuous power to help us walk our Christian life through what may be the petty things that bother us every day. And not only to endure them, but to do it with joyfulness!
If we simply trudge our way through difficult things, we are no better than the rest of the world. But if we do it with joyfulness, it is a testimony that we know the Lord Jesus!
