“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son” (Colossians 1:13).
Here is another “power”—one directly opposite to the wonderful power of yesterday’s verse. This is Satan’s power, that dark and gripping force opposing God’s power. We all know who will be victorious in a battle such as this, for we have been delivered from the power of darkness.
Many of us have grown up in Christian homes and most likely have not felt the depth and strength of the power of darkness. But as Christianity is given up in countries where once it was the foundation core of life, Satan moves in. An abandoned house is soon filled with rats and other undesirable animals. Satan gets his foot in the door of a “house” where the light of Christianity is fading. We who are part of the kingdom of “His dear Son” must be on guard, and as the world shifts course, we must keep our hearts anchored in God’s Word.
