“A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise” (Proverbs 15:12).
We live in a day when very few people are willing to listen to a rebuke or a correction. If you try to point out (in a constructive way) to someone what they are doing wrong, most of the time they will defend themselves, even if they realize they are wrong. Several years ago a new restaurant started in our area, and a man who understood the food business went to try it out. When he pointed out to the owner something she was doing wrong that would ruin her business, she simply told him not to criticize her employees. Needless to say, the restaurant closed within a year.
But the Word of God tells us over and over again that to listen to correction is the way to be wise, and that it is the wise person who is willing to listen. It is not easy to have to realize that we are wrong, but that is the way to learn and to be more wise.
