• Certain details of his behavior necessitate God’s intervention in discipline. Thus we find even here in 1 Samuel 20:6 a lack of truth which, although understandable, is no less to be condemned. If thy father should actually miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city; for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
