The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.1
Ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.2 – If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.3
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion.4

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.1 – We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.2 – Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way.3 – He cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.4
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.5
Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.6

There shall come a Star out of Jacob.1
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.2 – Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.3
Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire ye: return, come.4
I am the light of the world.5 – I will give him the morning star.6
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: … lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.7

We are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth.1 – When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: and before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.2
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.3 – Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.4 – There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.5
We are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.6

I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.2
He which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.3 – Comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.4
Let us not … judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.5 – We … that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.6
Charity … rejoiceth not in iniquity.7 – Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.8

His eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.1 – Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? … Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.2
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; … nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; … Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.3 – He that keepeth thee will not slumber. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil.4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.5

By the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all.1 – Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.2
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, … made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. … Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.3
They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.4

We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.1
I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.2 – I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.3
Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him.4 – To her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.5
I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord … that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.6

If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.1 – Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.2
He is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.3
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? … It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea, rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.4

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.1
We have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.2
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. … It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.3
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.4 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.5
