As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even forever.1
Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.2 – Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.3
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.4 – Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.5 – Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.6

If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.1 – If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. … This spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive.2
Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.3 – If ye … being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?4 – Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find.5
Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.6 – Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.7

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: … [he] saith, … Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.1
The ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.2 – I believed, and therefore have I spoken.3 – I know whom I have believed.4 – I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.5
The goodness of God.6 – He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?7
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.8
Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy.9

No man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation.1 – In me ye … have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.2
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.3 – The night is far spent, the day is at hand.4 – He shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.5
He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.6 – There shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.7 – We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. … Wherefore comfort one another with these words.8

No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.1
He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.2 – Let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.3 – What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.4
Be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, … grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.5
Abide in me.6 – Be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.7

He received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.1 – Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.2
Be ye … followers of God, as dear children.3 – If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.4
The brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person.5 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.6
Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame.7 – These things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.8 – As the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.9

That which is not corruptible.1 – Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.2 – He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.3 – The children of God, being the children of the resurrection.4 – The uncorruptible God.5
If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.6 – It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.7
Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.8 – Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.9

The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion. … We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. … Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.1
When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.2 – There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.3
If God be for us, who can be against us?4 – The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.5
Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us, … and he will deliver us.6

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground.1 – We commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.2 – Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands.3
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.4 – The night cometh, when no man can work.5
Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.6 – Always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.7
There remaineth … a rest to the people of God.8 – Unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.9 – This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing.10

When I am weak, then am I strong.1 – My God shall be my strength.2 – He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.3 – Let him take hold of my strength.4
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.5 – The arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob.6
I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.7
Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.8 – Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.9
