When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died.1 – A wounded spirit who can bear?2
Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?3 – The Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, … to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.4 – Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.5
Philip … preached unto him Jesus.6 – He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.7

Manasseh … did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, after the abominations of the heathen, … and he reared up altars for Baal, … And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord. … And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.1 – And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication.2
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.3 – The Lord is … longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish.4

He knoweth the way that I take.1 – O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting, and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path, and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. … Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? … If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.2
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are.3 – The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.4 – Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.5 – A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.6
Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.7 – The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.8 – Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.9

This man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.1 – Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.2
He must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.3
Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.4 – He raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.5 – He shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.6

A bruised reed shall he not break.1 – He restoreth my soul.2
Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.3 – No chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.4
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.5 – After all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this.6
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me. … He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.7

Lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.1 – Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth.2 – The only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father.3
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. … And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love.4
The glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.5 – Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.6

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.1 – A mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.2
We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies. … Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.3
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.4
He is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. … I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.5

Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.1
Will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!2
Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts. … The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts.3
I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. … And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.4

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.1 – We beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.2
My speech and my preaching was … in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. … But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.3
Thine eyes shall see the King in his beauty.4 – We shall see him as he is.5 – In my flesh I shall see God.6 – I shall be satisfied.7

They that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.1 – They have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.2 – He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption.3
To him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.4 – He that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.5
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.6 – He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.7
