The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?1 – We had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.2 – The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.3
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.4 – Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.5
Be instant in season, out of season.6 – Others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.7
Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.8 – Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.9

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.1 – The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith.2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.3
Of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.4 – Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching.5 – Looking for that blessed hope, … the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.6

Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.1
Behold, a greater than Solomon is here.2 – Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.3 – My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; when it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.4
He is our peace.5 – This man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land.6
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings.7
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.8

Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.1 – Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.2
Darkness hath blinded his eyes.3 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.4
The dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.5 – Love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.6
The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. … The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.7
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.8
Ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.9

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.1 – But Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.2
Thou shalt not be forgotten of me. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins.3
Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.4 – A woman … cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; … But he answered her not a word.5
The trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth.6

Surely every man walketh in a vain show: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.1 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.2 – Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. … For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.3
They do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.4 – We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.5 – To him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.6 – There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.7 – A crown of glory that fadeth not away.8

I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.1
If the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: and if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. … But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.2
It came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the Lord spake unto Joshua, saying, … Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, … and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel forever.3 – This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.4 – Witnesses chosen before of God, … who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.5

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?1 – The Lord sware and will not repent.2
God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.3 – Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.4
I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.5 – Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.6 – All the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.7

David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?1
Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. … Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.2 – Whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.3
To do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.4 – God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.5

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: … and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.1
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea.2
Though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! … I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.3
Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.4 – My word … shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please.5 – So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.6
