The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger forever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.1
Ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.2 – Ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.3 – Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.4

Such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.1 – We … were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.2
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.3
God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. … If, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.4

Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee forever.1 – The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary.2 – His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend.3
All bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.4 – He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.5
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.6 – The sword of the Spirit … is the word of God.7 – The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.8 – (The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.9

Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.1 – Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.2 – Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.3
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.4
As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.5 – Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: … and thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.6
Is not the Lord your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side?7

Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.1 – Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.2
I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. … As a prince hast thou power with God and with men.3 – Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.4
[Jesus] went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.5

The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: but because the Lord loved you.1 – We love him, because he first loved us.2 – You … hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.3
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.4 – God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.5
Lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.6 – Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.7 – His Son, … who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.8

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.1 – What hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?2 – By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.3
By the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.4 – For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things.5 – All things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.6
Enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.7

The house that is to be builded for the Lord must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries.1 – The glory of the Lord … filled the Lord’s house.2
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. … He spake of the temple of his body.3 – That which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.4 – The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.5 – God … hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.6
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.7 – The Prince of Peace.8 – He is our peace.9 – The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.10

Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.1
The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.2

Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest.1 – Here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.2 – There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.3
Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching.4 – Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.5 – This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, … I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded.6
