The chief Shepherd.1 – I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. … My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.2

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.3

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.4 – I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.5 – I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick.6 – Ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.7

Since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.1 – Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit.2 – Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.3

How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.4

Godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.5

The love of the Spirit.1 – The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost.2 – In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.3

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.4 – After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.5 – This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.6

The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities.7

Jesus … because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.1 – Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory.2

Seeing … that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace.3

The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.4

The world passeth away, and the lust thereof.1 – Surely every man walketh in a vain show: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.2 – What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.3

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.1 – I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.2 – The gospel of Christ … is the power of God unto salvation.3

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.4 – I also labor, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.5 – We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.6

Every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.1 – Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.2

They that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.3 – For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.4 – Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.5

I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.1 – Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.2
