When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior.1 – I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.2
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.3 – What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.4 – The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?5

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.1 – Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.2 – Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.3
Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.4 – A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.5
What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it?6

Let us now fall now into the hand of the Lord; for his mercies are great.1 – I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee: … I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.2 – He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger forever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. … For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.3 – I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.4
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.5 – Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.6
Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.7

We … do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.1 – That ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.2
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!3 – My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.4 – Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.5

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.1 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.2
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.3
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee.4
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.5 – I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.6 – If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.7

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).1 – God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.2 – Truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.3 – Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.4
That ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.5
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.6 – And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him.7

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.1 – In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.2 – Who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; and forgettest the Lord thy maker?3
I am with thee to deliver thee.4 – Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.5
I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.6 – Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.7

Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor.1
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.2 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.3 – Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.4 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.5 – Thy word hath quickened me.6
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.7

Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.1 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.2 – The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.3
Mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.4
Turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.5
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.6 – He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.7 – He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?8

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment.1
Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.2 – In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.3
They got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favor unto them.4 – So didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.5
Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.6 – O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.7
