ἀρχηγύς; “beginner, leader.” It is “prince” in
Acts 3:15
15
And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. (Acts 3:15)
(“author” in the margin), the Lord Jesus is the originator of life. In
Hebrews 12:2,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
the Lord Jesus is the “leader” and completer of faith: He began and finished the whole course. In
Heb. 2:10

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Hebrews 2:10)
it is “captain” in the AV (KJV), He was “leader” of their salvation through suffering.

αἴτιος, “cause, occasion.” The Lord Jesus became the “author of eternal salvation” (
Heb. 5:9

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Hebrews 5:9)
