The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.1 – I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.2
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.3 – For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved forever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.4 – The Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.5 – Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.6
Be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.7

Thus saith the Lord; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness.1 – I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.2 – I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you.3 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.4
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.5 – I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number.6 – Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.7

Thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God.1 – We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord.2 – The spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.3
Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.4 – Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.5
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.6 – Our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.7

They … weary themselves to commit iniquity.1 – I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?2
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.3 – Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.4
He that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works.5 – Not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.6 – This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing.7

This is not your rest.1 – There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.2 – Within the veil; whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus.3
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.4 – With Christ; which is far better.5
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.6 – There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.7
Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.8 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.9

He found [Jacob] in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead him.1 – Even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.2
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.3
The Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.4 – For this God is our God forever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.5 – Who teacheth like him?6

Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.1 – He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.2
Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.3 – The joy of the Lord is your strength.4 – Paul … thanked God, and took courage.5
Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.6

Father, I will that they … whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me.1 – I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.2 – He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.3
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.4 – Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus.5

I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.1 – In his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.2 – As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead him.3

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.6 – Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. … For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.7
Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.8

You, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel.1 – That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.2
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.3 – Sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.4
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.5
