I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.1
When ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.2 – The Spirit … helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.3
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.4 – Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.5
If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.6

Take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, … to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.1 – Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.2 – Abstain from all appearance of evil.3
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.4 – Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.5
Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.6 – Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching.7

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.1
The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.2 – There is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets.3 – Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him?4
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.5 – If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth.6

The fellowship of his sufferings.1 – Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.2 – For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him.3 – If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.4
God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.5 – Our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.6

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.1
I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. … O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.2 – If Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.3 – If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard.4
Little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.5 – He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.6

The Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.1 – He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.2 – Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.3
I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin.4 – I will melt them, and try them.5
Thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. … We went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.6
When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.7

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger forever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.1
Ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.2 – Ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.3 – Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.4

Such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.1 – We … were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.2
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.3
God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. … If, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.4

Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee forever.1 – The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary.2 – His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend.3
All bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.4 – He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.5
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.6 – The sword of the Spirit … is the word of God.7 – The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.8 – (The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.9

Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.1 – Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.2 – Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.3
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.4
As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.5 – Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: … and thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.6
Is not the Lord your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side?7
