Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. (1 Peter 3:7)

The first responsibility in a normal family relationship is that the husband must (1) love his wife just the same as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it, and (2) he must give honor to the wife. In other words, she is to be treated with kindness and respect and caring. She is not to be treated as a slave. Young brother, when you get a wife of your own, never be afraid to show your love for your wife and never mistreat her. Children will not be growing up in the loving, Christian, “normal” home they need, if the husband doesn’t love and treat his wife properly.
