The following letter I have received I shall entitle
“I am but a poor, hard-working servant, but a humble believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, a sinner saved by grace, resting alone in the finished work of Christ at Calvary for me. At this moment I am writing this propped up in bed. I have been very ill with influenza and bronchitis, but, thanks be unto God, He has heard my cry, and brought me out of all my distresses. He says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.’ ‘I am thy refuge and strength, saith God,’ and He means what He says. I have just received my club money for sickness benefit, and after reading December Message from God He has put it into my heart to send it to you with a little more to help on the glorious work you are doing by God’s help to send His own precious Word to the dear men at the Front. I am sure He will give me ONE precious soul for my hire to lay at His blessed feet. Maybe He will give me a hundred — maybe a hundred hundred; the day will declare. I believe God. It is a grand thing to have Jehovah for our God, Jesus for our Saviour and Friend, and the Holy Spirit for our Guide and Comforter, is it not?
“O God, my Father, own Thine own precious Word, and save every soul of the dear men who will receive a portion of Thy living Word through Thy gift of thirty shillings for Jesus Christ, Thy dear Son’s sake, and Thou shalt have all the glory. Amen.
“God bless you, clear sir, in the grand work you are doing for Him. May you have your heart’s desire in winning many precious souls through God’s own written Word. Please do not mention my name; enough that He knows.
