The Diary of a Soul

IT is Lord’s Day morning; the snow is falling thickly. 1:4m debarred by ill-health from going out, so must remember my Lord at home. Memories of what Christ has been to me all my life rise before me, and I can, and do, say after all the varied experiences of many years that “Nothing counts but Christ.” He must be the Alpha and the Omega of every life if blessing is to come to it. Many have been called to face eternity with the shadow of death in their eyes, but they have seen afar the distant lights of heaven, “the city without foundation, whose Builder and Maker is God.” But, alas many have lost that heavenly vision, because, they are out of touch with Christ. Paul could say, “For to me to live is Christ,” and the transforming power of this heavenly life made Christ so real to him, that he could with open face behold as in a glass the glory of the Lord, and be changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. A man on earth, as you and I, by faith he sees Christ Jesus in the glory of God, and he knows that before He ascended into heaven He had borne the judgment of his sins upon the cross, and that it needed the atoning work of the Lord Jesus, for the putting of them away before He entered into that glory.
And what we are seeking to do for the soldiers must be done for Christ, or it is useless. Our labor is not in vain in the Lord, but without Him we can do nothing. We must look with Christ’s eyes upon the battlefields, and weep with Him who wept on Olivet over the hardness and impenitence of human hearts. We must love sinners with Christ’s heart, and pray for them as Jesus prayed.
In the name of Christ we ask your help to send His word to the troops. In the name of Christ we ask your prayers for strength to carry on His work. We want to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
We are much encouraged, as this number will record.
