 40Ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees and willows of the brook, and ye shall rejoice before Jehovah your God seven days.
 41And ye shall celebrate it as a feast to Jehovah seven days in the year: it is an everlasting statute throughout your generations; in the seventh month shall ye celebrate it.
 42In booths shall ye dwell seven days; all born in Israel shall dwell in booths;

Zech. 14:16‑19• 16And it shall come to pass that every one that is left of all the nations which come against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

• The Passover had its antitype at the cross, Pentecost at the descent of the Holy Spirit. The feast of tabernacles, as yet, has had no fulfillment. It was celebrated after the harvest and the vintage, and Israel joyfully commemorated, in the land, their pilgrimage before entering on the rest which God had given them in Canaan. Thus the fulfillment of this type will be when, after the execution of judgment (whether in discerning between the wicked and the good, or simply in vengeance), Israel, restored to their land, shall be in possession of all their promised blessing. • As the Passover closely connected itself with the truth of the last chapter, so the Tabernacles furnished the occasion for what the Lord brings out here….Here the gathering of the people to rejoice was after the harvest and the vintage, types of the various forms of Divine judgment at the end of the age when Israel, at rest in the land, will remember their former days of pilgrimage, was pre-eminently the season of triumph, which proclaimed the promises fulfilled.
