But solemnly the Savior warns that "this generation," this Christ-rejecting race in Israel, shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled! (Remarks on Matthew 24:32-51 by W. Kelly)
In Deuteronomy 32:5,20, we find generation similarly used, not to convey a period, but to express the moral characteristics of Israel. Again, in the Psalms we have "the generation to come," which is not confined to a mere term of thirty or a hundred years. (Remarks on Matthew 24:32-51 by W. Kelly)

The true force is, "this (Christ-rejecting, unbelieving) generation of Israel," not the mere existing generation, but such as bore the same moral fruits as those who then refused the Messiah. "Generation" is often used in Scripture for a class marked by a given moral character.
