 Trouble, too, comes on the faithful, but the goodness and the promise give the issue according to the word. (Practical Reflections on the Psalms: Psalms 135-138 by J.N. Darby)
 The psalmist’s heart is full of praise, though in circumstances he walks “in the midst of trouble.” Nevertheless if the trouble tends to cast him down, the Lord will revive him. The hand of the Lord that deals with the believer’s enemies supports the believer himself (comp. Acts 11:21; 13:11). (Psalms 138 by H. Smith)
 With the prospect of being revived or restored in their land, and their enemies put down (vs. 7-8), they have rekindled confidence in the Lord. (Book 5. by B. Anstey)
