Fellowship

The following story illustrates that which should be the desire of the heart of every child of God.

A father, at his desk in his study one evening, was deeply engrossed in his work, when he heard a soft tap on the door. When the door opened, he asked his son, who was hesitatingly standing in the doorway, “What do you want?”

“Nothing, Father,” was the reply, I just want to be with you.” Permission was granted and the son sat quietly beside his father until his work was completed.

Do we enter the presence of God our Father, not only to present a list of needs and requests, but just to enjoy His love and company? The Apostle John wrote, “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).

True fellowship with the Father is the enjoyment of His presence and His Son. This is accomplished in the quiet of His presence. Remember, He desires our companionshipdo we truly desire His?
