Lost

“Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth” (Luke 15:8-10).

I couldn’t find my credit card! What a panic, and I began to frantically search for it. Losing a credit card is not a small thing and I immediately thought of automatic purchases that would be disrupted, not to mention the possibility of someone finding it and charging items to my account. What a relief when it turned up in a jacket pocket.

The story of the lost, lifeless coin, told by the Lord Jesus illustrates the value of souls, and the desire and diligence of the Spirit of God in searching and finding those who are “dead in sins” (Ephesians 2:5), and need to be saved. Is the Spirit working with your heart and conscience today? Don’t despise His pleadings. Come and be found, and receive salvation. There will be great rejoicing in heaven.
