Sowing and Reaping

“Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20).

“He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3).

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7).

These verses teach us that, while the grace of God forgives sin and restores the soul of the wayward believer, yet that which we have sown in our lives must be reaped. “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption” (Galatians 6:8). This is why it is so important to live for Christ while we are young and all through our lives. Many an older believer feels the effects of what they did in their youth. It will have nothing to do with our joy in heaven in the end, but it has everything to do with what we experience now, and what He will be able to reward us for in a coming day. He wants to be able to give us an abundant commendation and a full reward. That’s why the Apostle John wrote, “Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward” (2 John 8).
