Another Week
Since last Saturday’s gospel message, you are one week older and one week closer to eternity. For those who know Christ as their Savior, this is a joyful thought. But for those who are still lost in their sins, this is a fearful thing. God in mercy has given another seven days of grace, and if there is someone reading, or listening to this page being read to them, remember, God does not promise you another week to repent and accept His offer of salvation.
There is always an urgency connected with the gospel, and the warning is, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them” (Ecclesiastes 12:1). One warning of the New Testament is, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). John the Baptist asked, “Who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” (Matthew 3:7). To flee from something is to get as far away as fast as you can. Or it may be to get as close to something as quickly as possible. Have you “fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18)? If not, Christ is that refuge!
