• Abiathar himself (1 Kings 4:4), who had been driven from the priesthood, is counted among the princes alongside Zadok. He had carried the ark and shared all David’s afflictions, and though he was removed from his office, his lord did not wish to deprive him of the dignity which he was bestowing upon all those who had suffered with the rejected king.
