As Paul’s absence is a motive for working out our own salvation with fear and trembling, so is it also a motive for him who is engaged in the work of the gospel to devote himself more than ever to his ministry, in order to supply as far as possible the lack of apostolic service by earnest care for souls, and by instructing them in the truth that he has learned. For I am already being poured outa, and the time of my departure is all but comeb.

a
The KJV by no means conveys correctly the form; "now ready to be offered" is in several respects different from "am already being poured out," which exactly reproduces the original.
b
The word ephestēken, "is all but come," is hardly the same as enesthken, "is present" or "come," though the difference be the merest shade. "Is at hand," as in the KJV, is the true rendering of neither, but of "eggus" or "ēggiken."
