A bruised reed shall he not break.1 – He restoreth my soul.2
Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.3 – No chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.4
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.5 – After all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this.6
