The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; the God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior.1 – The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.2
When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.3 – We may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.4
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?5
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even forever.6 – Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.7
For thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.8

It pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.1 – Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?2 – We thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: and that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.3
Let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.4 – Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God.5

Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.1 – The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.2 – Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.3 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.4 – God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God.5
Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.6

It pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself.1 – Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.2
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil.3 – Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.4
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity?5
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace.6 – Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.7 – Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.8

How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? forever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?1 – Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.2
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.3 – The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.4
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.5 – Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.6
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.7 – Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. … My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.8

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.1 – Ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.2 – That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.3
He is not ashamed to call them brethren.4 – Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.5 – Go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father.6
I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: … and white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.7 – That they without us should not be made perfect.8

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.1 – The longsuffering of our Lord is salvation.2
For this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.3 – Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.4
Despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?5 – Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.6

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.1
Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.2
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven.3 – None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy.4 – I will speak of thy testimonies … before kings, and will not be ashamed.5

Blessed are the meek.1
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill.2 – A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.3
Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God.4 – Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.5
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.6
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.7 – When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.8

I know that thou canst do everything.1 – The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.2 – He doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?3 – There is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?4 – Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee.5
Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.6 – Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean.7 – The mighty God.8 – All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.9
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.10 – Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed, … there be more with us than with him.11
